Ford Thunderbird 50th Anniversary White Neon Clock

This Ford Thunderbird 50th Anniversary White Neon Clock features a white and deep sky blue colored background. 'Thunderbird 50th Anniversary' is featured on this 1950's style neon clock, with the number 50 prominently at the center. There is also a chrome Thunderbird emblem, which appears as a layer set atop of the large '50'. The hands of the clock are affixed to the center of the Thunderbird emblem. The Ford Thunderbird, or T-Bird, is tremendously common throughout pop culture. This legendary car has been included in song lyrics by the Beach Boys (who can forget "she'll have fun, fun, fun, 'til her Daddy takes her T-Bird away..."?) and has also appeared in a few well-known movies such as 'American Graffiti' and 'Thelma and Louise'. The Ford Thunderbird, with it's great styling, muscular steel body, high performance and sophistication, has unequivocally earned icon status since it first debuted for the 1955 model year as a sporty two-seat convertible. The Ford Thunderbird was discontinued, due to declining sales in the late 1990's, but Thunderbird's story does not end there. 

This pop culture icon's forty year run saw many style and size changes and what began in 1955 as a 2-seater sleek coupe, morphed into a gargantuan, almost 5000 pound, gas-guzzler in the 1970's. The T-Bird's final generation (or so we thought) which ran from 1988 until the car was discontinued in the late 1990's, was given a more streamlined and aerodynamic style, but was still much larger than the original T-Bird from 1955.

Thanks to a trend that began in the late 1990's, it seemed like basically any brand that had a "cool" vehicle in its past was suddenly resurrecting this cool vehicle to offer a new, retro-themed design. During the retro-inspired cries of the public, many favorites were resurrected, such as the Dodge Challenger, Chevy Camaro, and yes, the T-Bird! Ford designed a retro T-Bird inspired by the 1955 body style. It came back as a two-seater, true to its roots, and it was offered in vibrant, saturated colors of the day. It was the same, but different.

Ford Motor company was launched from a converted wagon factory in 1903, with $28,000 cash from twelve investors. These investors included John and Horace Dodge, future founders of the Dodge car manufacturer. During its early years, the company produced just a few cars a day at its factory on Mack Avenue in Detroit. Groups of two or three men worked on each car from components made to order by other companies.
