The Chevelle, one of Chevrolet's most successful nameplates, embodied American muscle cars like no other. Introduced on September 26, 1963, the Chevelle had a short run with only three generations from 1964-1977. This model was available in many different varieties — including everything from 2-door sports coupes to 4-door wagons. The Malibu, the top of the line model through 1972, completely replaced the Chevelle nameplate for the redesigned, downsized 1978 model year.
