The storyline of the Gremlins movie centers around a young man who receives a strange, but adorable creature as a pet called a Mogwai. He is told to remember three important rules that must never be broken. Do not expose the Mogwai to bright lights or sunlight which will kill it, do not let it get wet, and never feed it after midnight. The Mogwai, when exposed to wetness, spawns other Mogwai creatures. When the Mogwai creatures eat after midnight they transform into small, destructive, evil monsters called gremlins.
