In the end Dorothy wakes up back home in Kansas where it becomes clear to her that the entire ordeal was merely a dream. At the end we see the characters from her dream, but without their costumes as regular people who Dorothy was very familiar with in the real world. The Wizard of Oz is the source of many quotes referenced in contemporary popular culture, such as, 'There's no place like home','Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore','Somewhere, over the rainbow, way up high...' , 'If I only had a brain','If I only had a heart','If I only had the nerve' and more including ' I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!'
